Do You Know Your Why Or Burning Desire?
In Part 1, we talked about 6 Step Formula to build up a burning desire. In this section I’d talk to talk about why it is so important to build up your burning desire. 6 Step Formula is the beginning of setting up a goal.
Time after time people have made many goals. And they don’t follow up. I don’t do it. People set up a New Year’s Resolution, and it falls away gradually.

Form a great habit:
It is very important to set up a great habit of saying your goals every day and making sure you are following up.

The Origin of the 6 Step Formula:
These 6 steps in the Formula in Napoleon Hill did not come about arbitrarily. The six steps were followed by Andrew Carnegie who in his time earned over $100,000,000. His life span was from 1835 to 1970.

Andrew Carnegie’s Earnings:
That is today’s value equivalent to one billion dollars. This figure was supposed to be rather conservative. According to the archived note he donated three and a half time the amount to charity, among many building public libraries and schools.

Many very successful leaders in America have followed these steps. The 6 Step Formula works really well.

Napoleon Hill’s Vision of Future:
Napoleon Hill said perhaps as early as 100 years ago that times have changed and in this new era there are so many opportunities that men could not even imagine.
“Never in the history of America has there been so great an opportunity for practical dreamers as now exists… the rules of the race have changed because we now live in a Changed World that definitely favors those who have had little or no opportunity to win under the conditions existing recently.”
He went on to say that the changed world was demanding new ideas, new way of doing things, new leaders, new methods of marketing and many more. (He has predicted so many things then that are still applicable today. This is because he is firmly based in principles. )
A little over 100 years ago we didn’t have an airplane, nothing like commercial airplanes we have today,
There were no automobiles. Henry Ford was ridiculed for his idea of horseless carriage. Marconi who invented a radio was thrown into a nut house.
Definiteness of Purpose:
You have been clear of definiteness of purpose. It is then so important in our new economy and new opportunities more than ever before. Napoleon Hill defined, “Definiteness purpose is the knowledge of what one wants and a burning DESIRE to possess it.”
Your why is the Burning Desire inside:
This burning desire is what allows you to continue and not quit.
If you haven’t started to do your goal card, reading it daily. It’s time to start. Recite and read your goal card every day. By doing this, what is on your card becomes your burning desire. At first, many people may think it is their burning desire but it is not very strong and certainly all consuming.
You must know exactly what you want. This is also called your Why. Make sure it becomes the white heat and the burning desire. That will transform your life and you will go for what you want in your life.

Think and grow rich is a great read thanks for sharing
Hey Rebecca, if I am allowed to choose one book in personal development and success principles, this will be the book of my choice. 🙂
Great post and video Yukiko.
Consistency is definitely key, I loved what you said about the New Years Resolution fading away…too many people do that.
Thank you for sharing this! =)
Hi Kay, thank you for your kind words. We are here to inspire and remind each other!
Great post Yukiko! We are practitioners of Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich as well and find this stuff fascinating. We’ve heard it said before and agree whole heartedly that if your why don’t make you cry, then it isn’t big enough. Your burning desire is what helps you get over the hurdles or challenges that come your way as an entrepreneur. It creates the “stickability” that’s necessary to win. Thanks so much for sharing such value to help others live on purpose.
