Spiritual Nature of Trees:

I never saw a discontented tree. Trees grip the ground as though they liked it, and though fast rooted they travel about as far as we do. The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.
John Muir

John Muir was a Scottish American naturalist.  He advocated wilderness and founded Sierra Club.  His quotes above are very powerful testaments to his deep appreciation and  understanding of  trees in nature.

The spiritual nature of trees has been known for centuries.  Shamanism honored trees.  American Indians acknowledged the power of the forests and respected the tree’s wisdom.  We read about Tolkien’s Tree Giants coming to the rescue.

In Japan, shrines and temples have pine trees at their main gates and headquarters.  It is said that the Deity (Kami) descends through the pine trees to visit the earthlings.

If you have visited the Red Oak Woodlands in California, you might have really felt charm, mystical and solemn power of nature in the forest.

But no need to be in any famous places.
Just work around in your neighborhood or go to a park to find a tree that you feel very close to.

Bloggers write about meditation and healing aspects of trees.  Here is a blog called, “The Spiritual Power of Trees.”

Choose Your Tree:

Today, we are going to meditate with a tree.

[1] Stand by the tree of you choice.

[2] You can hug it if you like.

[3] Begin to breathe in and out feeling and thinking only about the tree.

[4] We talked about Jokyo kajitsu in the Day #1 Blog.
The relaxed upper body (tree branches) and solid strong lower body.

[5] As you breathe in and out, feel the roots, the trunk, branches and leaves (in any left on the tree.)

[6] As you breathe in and out let the Ki-energy, Chi, or prana of the tree flow through your body and mind.

[7]  No other thoughts.

[8]  This tree has been standing here for many years.

[9]  The power  and size of its roots are invisible to you.

[10] Just being with the energy of the Universe, the sun, earth, wind and rain.

[11] You can also exhale out tensions and stress you may be feeling.

[12] Let in the Universe’s energy and all “stuff” from the body cells out.

Sitting may be very difficult for some people.   Meditating outside by a tree  gives an alternative.

What is the purpose of all this?

[1]  You are expanding your awareness…

[2]  Beyond where your thoughts and mind can take you.

[3]  You are cultivating intuition.

[4]  You are learning and experiencing the laws of the Universe without words…

A new concept ABOUT LEARNING MEDITATION

[1]  Being open-minded is the only way to grow and change.

[2]  If you are open to change all aspects of your life, meditation is the first step to know yourself.

[3]  Personal development and harmonious relationships and financial stability cannot be ignored.

BEING SPIRITUAL MEANS:
