How to Respect Yourself and Others:3 Levels of Respect

Learning About Respecting and Being Respected

How to Gain the respect of others:

Do you wish to be respected by others and loved ones?
Do you respect others?
Before you speak of being respected, you have to learn to respect others.

Beginning Level of respect:
First follow proper protocols
Such as greetings,
instead of cutting someone off
learning to listen to what people have to do or say
and not try to control and dominate conversations
So the beginning of giving respect is to give proper protocols, and greetings.

Knowing your own boundaries:

  • Unless you really respect yourself
  • know your own boundaries
  • know what is acceptable and not acceptable
  • Know what you can and cannot do for others
  • how can you expect to have someone else respect you?

Learning from The Prayer of Saint Francis:

 One of the most loved prayers is The Prayer of Saint Francis.

The Prayer of Saint Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;

Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console, To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.

O the Master Teacher of Wisdom,
The Great Universe:
Grant that I May not so much seek
To be respected
As to respect all beings on this Planet Earth.

Respect Yourself:

So you have to know yourself;

  • Knowing the boundaries between yourself and others:
  • You have to know where you are at
  • and where others are at.
  • In terms of at work situation
  • what your boss demands from you
  • what your coworkers expects of you
  • what you can or cannot do for your family members
  • So learn the boundaries of what others want you to do and what you will not do for others

The Ultimate, True Respect:

When you talk about respecting someone,
do you believe  really believe in his ability?
Do you believe that he is doing the best he can?
Do you believe that even if he is not doing well now, there is a solution
that he can work out himself?

And in this process you are not overly involved

Controlling and dominating his outcome.
Giving advice over and over again.

So you must know your limitation
What’s acceptable

What’s not acceptable

Trust and believe in someone’s ability and potential

Then you can begin to talk about being respected
and respecting…

Respect Is Very Important:

  • After all in your business and life.
  • If you are working with others,
  • How can you build a rapport, when creating a great business
  • without respecting others and being respected by others?

What is stopping you to experience more respect in your life?

What areas of your life do you need to grow more?
