Are you continuously willing or not?

Some people say;
“I am really willing to learn.”

or “I’m willing to listen to you.”

“I’ m willing to do this right.”

“I am so willing to follow.”

But at the end of the day, their willingness has gone out the door.
If you are willing to do certain things, but if you are not achieving your results, most likely you have not really been so willing.”

What is lacking?  What must you really know?

Here are 17 Tips to make yourself willing.
To continuously learn.

[1] Are you keeping things simple?

Not overly complicated.   Recently I watched one movie over and over again.  The dialogues were so simple.  It is an hour and a half movie.   After watching some segments over 5 times, I practically memorized several simple succinct conversations from various scenes. These simple dialogues portrayed the character’s feelings and thoughts and relationships very powerfully.

What the characters wanted to communicate was so clear.
You have to be willing to continuously learn to be simple and keep things simple.
When you become simple, you become clear.
You can communicate with others better.
You communicate your intentions to yourself.
Your thought aligns with your action more fully.

[2] Take a small stub or a small step at a time:

People often get overwhelmed with all the things they need to get done.  They anticipate hardship, difficulties and hours involved in doing a task.  When you are writing, break down to one page at a time or even one paragraph or one sentence at a time.
Making promises you cannot keep.
Taking on too many projects at the same time.
Trying to please many people.
If you are willing to learn, you must start one small piece at a time.
[3] Listen and learn:

If you have your preconceived ideas and notions, you would automatically reject.
“That person cannot teach me.”

“He won’t have anything important to say.”

“Why should I even listen to her.”

And you weren’t even aware that you are not listening to what the person is saying.

You may have dismissed the person’s value.
You feel you are wasting your time.
And consciously or unconsciously made up your mind not to listen to him.  Or you simply don’t pay attention.   Out of not respecting, you just cannot hear what a person is saying.  So you learn nothing.

You are out in nature.  Walking in the forest.  Because your mind is so busy, you don’t hear the wind, birds, leaves sizzling.  You don’t see the sunlight dancing among the leaves and branches.

You are at the ocean, and all you are concerned is getting tanned and smearing tan lotion on your body.

There is no listening.  No listening. There is no willingness to learn.

[4] Focus on yourself.   Live and let live:

People didn’t develop characteristics of being a busy-body or self-negating.   They don’t focus on themselves.  They can’t mind their own business.  These characteristics were programmed and conditioned in their early childhood by watching their family members or dealing with dysfunctional family situation.

When you are worried and obsessed with what others do, and try to control their outcome, you lost willingness to live and let live.

It’s like these dogs are barking at me.   They are in their yard.  I am walking by.
When you are not willing to focus on yourself, you are behaving like these dogs.

Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
Mathew 7:3

When you are not willing to learn to focus, you live in confusion.  You stop noticing about yourself, your faults, shortcomings and all you see is other’s bad behavior or inappropriateness.  But how you perceive others get exaggerated in negative ways.

[5]  Take responsibility for your life and actions:

Don’t blame others and circumstances and things.   When you stop focusing on yourself, next degrading step is irresponsibility.    You are not willing to own your life.  Owe up to your actions.

Instead, you are full of excuses.  Your financial difficulties have nothing to do with your doing.  It’s the economy.  It’s the changing trend. It’s the fault of education.

Your marriage failed because of your spouse.

You can’t focus on your work because of your boss, your kid, or  your co-workers.
Your lists of why you don’t have what you want; why you don’t do why you want; why you aren’t where you want to be in life never talk about yourself.   It’s all about finger pointing at others.
You must be willing to learn to take responsibility of where you are in life to be successful in business and in your life.
You will then be ready to be willing to work hard.  Or even willing to work flexible hours.  Willing to do whatever it takes for you to achieve your goal.

[6] Be open to be willing:

People don’t like change.  People hate what is not familiar to them.

Some people disrespect certain types of people or mistrust people of different cultural backgrounds.  Many men still think they are better than women.

Even if you are not open to new ideas or situations, even if you are not open to anything different than you are used to, it all begins with your willingness.   You must be open to be willing.

This allows you to learn about tolerance and kindness, and compassion.

You must be willing to learn to be open.    You will be willing to work with others. You will be willing to learn to work in a team.

[7] Stand on Your ground: Stand on Your Principles:

Too many people are wishy-washy. They cannot reach important decisions promptly.
It is extremely difficult to be willing to do anything when you don’t know your ground.
All you do is doubt, hesitate and be afraid to take risks and make mistakes.

Be willing to learn principle of the Universe, Natural Laws and practice to live by them.

We need to have business leaders who live by deep, strong principles.
Stephen Covey

You will be able to be willing to make decisions and take decisive actions.
Then after you take actions, you will be open to examine your results.

You will be willing to assess your thoughts, you words and actions.  You will be willing to improve your plans and actions.

[8] Easy does it; relax your body and mind:

It is observed that even the first $1 and the first $15,000, beginners make is very difficult, compared to entrepreneurs to make their next $15,000 who are already making money.

When you are learning something new, things can be stressful.  Also you are trying too hard to
transform your life.  You may feel like you should never stop, and really go through the blood, sweat and tears.

This is not necessarily the same thing as “being willing.”    When you overly exert your willpower and almost go through things for hours and days without rest, actually your effectiveness shuts down.
Your engine will burn out.

It’s important to slow down and do something fun and enjoyable.  I don’t mean to get lost on TV for hours or veggie out with late night shows or movies.

Go for a walk.  Have lunch with a friend.  Be sure to cook together with your spouse.  Be involved in your children’s lives.

Be willing to diversify what you do.  Nurture your mind with great conversations and reading a book to help you grow as a person.

[9] Repeat only with intention to improve:

We have two famous quotes and many people follow two different patterns when it comes to ‘repeating’

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Albert Einstein

When people repeat to do something without paying attention or without careful thoughts, they will not necessarily achieve better results.   Most of the time they have acquired certain behavior patterns and unconsciously keep repeating them over and over again.  Like a garble in a spinning wheel caught.  This little creature will be able to get off.  But people don’t.  They make things worse all caught up, doing the same thing over and over again.

Repetition is the mother of learning, the father of action, which makes it the architect of accomplishment.
Zig Zglar

When you are repeating your reading, or studying, learning specifics, you are willingly doing things with an intention of learning, memorizing or mastering skills.   You are not just mindlessly going through a motion.   Rather your intentions are clear.  You are mindful of what you are doing.  You are willing to learn, to improve and to master your skills.

[10]  Reexamine and reflect:

One of the worst enemies  people face is their own mind.  The mind tends to sabotage and throw up a resistance.    As a result of what you have been willing to learn and to change, your habitual way of being gets very uncomfortable.

It is important that you continue to take a look at what and how your are making progress on your journey.   Don’t regurgitate to make things more entangled

[11]  Don’t be judgmental of others:

If you become very negative toward people, or begin to dismiss their worth and value, you are the one who is losing out.  When you are judgmental of others, creativity stops for you because the Universal energy flows with good and joyous feelings.

Your mind is full of ill feelings or egotistical attitudes.  There is no openness or willingness.  You are not only shutting out a potential source of new and interesting ideas but also blocking your creative channel.

To be willing to learn new things, you must work on not to judge others hastily.  For this you must practice kindness and empathy.

[12]  Recognize things to unlearn:

Noticing your bad habitual patterns is critical.   One way to unveil your bad patterns and tendencies is to stare at your life and the results you are not getting.  there is a tremendous blockage.  So review how you think, what you do and how you feel.  These are the thinking you need to unlearn.  Feelings you need to replace.

Practrice willingness. Be willing to unlearn some of these negative aspects of yourself.  It’s like wiping dust off.  Dust and garbage pile up in the course of a day just because you are living.
Be willing to unlearn.  Then you will be more effective in willing to learn.

[13]  Don’t get complacent:

A sense of complacency occurs when people get to a certain level of comfort.  They become satisfied with what they have and where they are in life.  Their feeling is mere smug and uncritical satisfaction.  When people begin to feel complacent, they stop willing to strive or excel.
They go through the day with trivia and minimal effort.

If you are seek happiness and satisfaction in life,  you must be willing to overcome your complacency.

 [14]  Be willing to change:

Change is not easy for many people.  The fear of unknown is a big factor for this.   People often lack courage.    If your life is aimless; and you do not have much desire in life, you will not want to change much.

Change requires clarity and courage.  You must be willing to get clarity.  You must be willing to be courageous.

Changing once is not enough.  You must continually change.  You must be willing to learn to change continuously.

[15]  Forgive yourself and others:

You may have hurt yourself by making inappropriate choices.   You are disappointed and angry at yourself have been beating yourself up.   Others may have hurt you and you don’t consider ever forgiving them.  You remember the pain and the ugliness of the situation.

You will not have any power over yourself or others when you resent and try to punish them.
The only person you continue to hurt is yourself.  It is like drinking poison continually.

Slowly and surely learn to forgive.  Be willing to start forgive.  This is the only way you unlock the chain that has been binding you in a poisonous prison of the past.  a new life begins when you become willing to forgive yourself and others.

[16]  Live in the moment:

You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment.
Henry David Thoreau

This is an ancient wisdom taught by every sage.    Your mind is at peace and you are most productive and efficient when you can live in this moment.  All the tips given so far manifest in this single moment of time.

This is one the most important lesson and skill you can learn when you meditate consistently.  You release yourself from the past and worries and anxiety of the unknown in the future.  This does not mean you neglect your purpose and vision that you are creating.  You simply focus on your thought, feeling, attitudes and action now.
Be willing to learn to be in the moment.

[17]  Let Go and Let God:

You probably have heard the phrase, “It’s not all about you” when your mentors or motivational speakers talked about how to succeed or how to create a thriving business.

To let go and to let God is probably the highest form of spiritual accomplishment.   The paradox of this “letting go and letting God” state is that you will live your life free.

You flow with your life.  You don’t get stuck and stagnate.
You will grow as a person.  You will begin to attract wonderful people and great opportunities in your life.

Willingness is different from your stubborn will power.  Like you are carrying a heavy backpack filled rocks.  And you are determined to continue to walk fast to your final destination that you think is what you need to reach.

Once again you begin willing to accept the Natural Laws and the Universal principles.   You start willing to learn to let go and let God.   You are learning to be humble and listen for guidance from people who are living a life of abundance.  Or you follow intuition, the Universal Intelligence.
