“I Made a Decision.”
Do you hear many people talk about success? When successful leaders in their Industry would talk about how they became so successful, they would tell where they were really stuck and hitting the bottom and finally they would say, “ I made a decision….” All of them without an exception! “I made a decision, too. But nothing really changed.” You may say to yourself. “Nothing new is going on with me. Why?” Making a decision involves 5 process steps and the use of the power of the subconscious mind.
They made a decision. This was it. They were sick and tired of their situation. Then you may be a little puzzled and doubtful.
There are three types of mind people engage in. These 5 decision making process steps tap into each and every one of them.
3 Types of Mind:
Let’s dig into this deeper. The decision making process steps involve 3 different types of mind.
Conscious and Subconscious Mind (or Unconscious Mind):
The Mind is an activity throughout our body although often we think of the mind as the brain. The body is an instrument of the mind.
The Mind consists of two parts in the human body.
The CONSCIOUS MIND:
This is the thinking, educated and intellectual mind.
It can choose to accept or reject any thought or idea.
The SUBCONSCIOUS MIND:
The Subconscious Mind is the emotional mind. Every thought that the Conscious mind chooses to accept, the subconscious mind must accept and it has no ability to reject
When a thought is impressed upon the subconscious mind, it causes an emotion and alters the vibrations of the body. We, then, attract to us whatever vibrations are in harmony and they cause the body to move into action and produce a result.
Learning to drive is a good example. We learned step by step through the Conscious Mind. After many lessons, our eyes, hands and feet eventually coordinated to create a desired result; we drive automatically..
Many of the ideas stored in our subconscious mind had been conditioned and programmed by our parents, neighbors, teachers, peers, traditions and the mass media. We think according to appearances of things filtered through the five senses.
Wallace D. Wattles wrote, “ To think according to appearances is easy. To think truth regardless of appearance is laborious.”
Sigmund Freud created the term the unconscious mind which contained socially unacceptable ideas, desires and wishes. It also is heavily influenced by unexpressed and repressed emotions caused by trauma and pain.
People’s decision and choice when they are unaware and untrained are often based on what is stored in the unconscious and subconscious minds. In this blog and throughout all of my writing, I use subconscious and unconscious mind interchangeably unless otherwise specified.
Super Conscious Mind:
The Super conscious Mind is the Universal Mind.
Carl Jung coined the spiritual aspect of the mind as super conscious. In Buddhism this term has been known and taught for many centuries. Napoleon Hill called this Infinite Intelligence. It comes to people in the form of the Sixth sense, hunches or intuition.
When people gain freedom in their life and want to share and influence others to again their freedom, they operate form this level of consciousness.
Making a decision involves 5 process steps and the use of the power of the subconscious mind:
The following 5 steps utilize all of these 3 types of mind. Successful people utilize all these three types of mind.
[1] Admit and Accept (Conscious Mind at work):
You admit and accept your situation as is. You accept you are the cause of your life and your situation.
Accept you cannot control others and especially your loved ones. There is no denial that your loved ones and others had a big impact on your life and the way things turned out. Good and bad. Happiness and grief. Joy and suffering.
Inspite of all these, you admit your weaknesses and your faults. This is done without feeling guilt or shame.
Then you say to yourself, “I am in dire need to change my situation.”
You accept responsibility. You become responsible. You are the change agent in your life.
This is where the decision making process begins.
[2] Set Small Daily Action (Conscious Mind at work):
But often there is as if no decision was ever made.
You’ve heard of the story of three frogs sitting on a lily pad in a pond, haven’t you? One made a decision to jump into the pond. How many of them are still left on the lily pad.
The answer is “All of them.” None of them took action.
The second step involves taking action. To carry out that decision. That’s easily said than done. Before you take action, it requires for you to do some investigation and examination. You are going to, based your experience and knowledge, lay out small daily plans and set out the results you want to have every single day.
Let’s say you have a store or a restaurant. You would like to have a daily sale of $3000 -$4000. Then you would have to break down to a minimum of 30 to 40 dinner orders and drinks that your business must sell daily.
If you are involved in direct selling, maybe you need 2-3 sales per day to reach your goal. You may need to bring in 10 customers a day. Maybe you need to meet 10 new prospects a day. And make 2 sales per day. Or you may need to make 50 phone calls every day.
You figure out you sales points, commissions and other factors involved and calculate the finite quantity.
Then you achieve that every day. That is the decision you make to carry out every day.
Not the big goal of saying and dreaming, “I am going to make one million dollars.”
Small daily plans are what carry your decision making process.
This is when you can answer yes one frog that’s made a decision actually jumped into the pond.
[3] Discover Your Why and Passion (Using the Power of Subconscious Mind):
In the third step, you engage the power of the subconscious mind. Let me say that one you are consciously working on your mind, you cannot separate exclusively the working of the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. It’s never just one or the other. You do use both.
You can tap deep into the subconscious mind, where files of sense impressions are stored.
You may find what you have forgotten and once was a very important aspiration or dream.
It doesn’t not discriminate what is real or not. If your deepest soul desire, you can begin to implant the seed with autosuggestions and repeating affirmations to let these seeds of hopes and dreams grow in you.
Discovering of your deepest wish, your definite purpose in your life often begins with the negative things you are eliminating.
You don’t want this anymore. You are sick and tired of this. This is enough and no more. Why you don’t want this. You are sick and tired of being here. Being stuck like this. You are so sick and tired of being and sick and tired. Struggling like this.
That’s where this seeding and planting begins.
Open up your heart. Open up your mind. Reach deep into your soul.
What is it that you really want?
Do you want to live with your family fully, providing for your family?
Do you want to be travelling to beautiful places? Around the world?
Do you want to be a leader, helping others get out of their struggles?
Begin to imagine and visualize.
Get into the state of having all these… as if you have them and write down and recite all your thoughts as if you already possess them in the present tense.
Write down your definite purpose and your why’s on an index card cut out to about 2.5 inch by 3 inch or a credit card size. Carry in your wallet. Read silently and out loud repeatedly whenever possible.
Visualizing the outcome.
Revisit your Why’s and definite purpose weekly or monthly.
Do appropriate personal development work to allow yourself to grow as a person.
In this step you moved from the negative to positive. You are continually impressing your subconscious mind with your desires and what your really want and why you want these things.
This is when the magic of the subconscious mind begins to take over.
You really don’t know how even if you have everything mapped out. You really don’t know exactly how to get things done to get to where you want to go.
If you only focus on the big final goal like earning a million dollars or two, it is too far fetched. It almost becomes like just dreaming fantasy. You must focus on your daily actions and daily goals. Lots of small wins.
[4] Make Commitment and Be Persistent (Strengthening and using the subconscious Mind):
This step is one of the basic cores needed in personal development work. You should be reading a book to improve your mindset every single day. Read for 15 to 30 minutes daily.
You make a commitment. You carry out what you set out to do. No excuses. Just go through with what you’ve decided to do.
Commitment is total willingness to give your energy and time to something that you’ve decided to do. You are your word. You honor your decision or a promise to yourself and to others. You operate with integrity.
Napoleon Hill calls persistence as the sustained effort necessary to induce faith.
Learn the 8 core values of persistence and 10 ways to change your behavior patterns.
Go to my earlier blog article, New Meaning of Persistence: Root’s Ki energy.
95 % of people fail. Only 5 % of people succeed. It is only because those people do not persist and quit at a first sign of tough time coming. They quit when things get tough. They quit when things didn’t go as they expected.
[5] Reach Out for Collective Guidance and Support (Super conscious Mind at work):
When you make a decision and work out daily plans and action steps. There is one thing you must know.
Know that you cannot succeed on your own or by yourself.
You must do a little research and come up with a collective guidance and support.
It may be your God, Higher Power or Universal Force at work. It may be books you learned from. It may be groups of like-minded people in a form of Mastermind groups. It may be an organization you belong to.
You must be tapping into a community of like-minded people. Too often independent thinkers try to do everything alone. Success does not happen to a lonely wolf.
Everyday should not be about your individual struggle.
Finding a system or strategy is to have a fundamental build-in support.
It has to be like riding on waves. Tidal waves. Like surfers ride on. If you are sailing, you use the wind effectively. You must go in the direction of the water flow and current. You must understand the overall trend where everything is headed.
Not necessarily opinions of ‘everybody’ who are not the real authority or thinkers on your industry or awareness. Many people are after all ignoramus and only love to give their opinions when they really don’t know what they are talking about.
When you are guided by your mastermind group, you of course exchange valuable information and know-how. What is often misunderstood is the energy and psychic power of the two or more mind igniting and generating the Universal intelligence and tapping into the Super Consciousness. This is when you get inspired; cultivate more faith and begin to have many breakthroughs.
These five steps will help you carry through your decision making process. Unlike many people believe when you make a decision, it is not just one moment and magically something happens to change your life immediately. When successful people say they’ve decided or say, “I’ve made up my mind,”
They are letting the ball roll. They get the ball rolling.
If you are an adult and are engaged in decision making process, you are looking to improve some aspects of your life. More than 95% of the population is stuck not having enough financial resources.
Everything is life in today’s life requires money. Have you found a way to escape from financial issues?
Illness. Medical treatment. Healthier diet. Physical Exercises. Investment in better opportunity. Education. More Training. Entertainments. Relationships. Having a family. Family vacation. Maintenance and repairs. Upgrades. More space. Break-ups. Community involvement. Retirement plans. Membership and affiliations.
This is the list of things people are constantly challenged by and working on to improve. Do you agree or disagree. Please leave comments and share on Facebook.
I have found a great community of like-minded people and thousands of people are finding time and money freedom in a new era of digital communication and Internet. If you are interested in following these 5 steps, continue to watch this video presentation.
