7 Tips to Beat Monday Blues: Turn into Success Opportunities – Part 1

Monday Norm in the Society to Get the Monday Blues:

Monday is usually the most stressful day of the week.    That is why there is a very popular recognizable phrase, “the Monday blues.”
For adults who don’t like their job or work situation, they get the Monday Blues.    Is it the responsibility of work itself?
The small business owners start to feel on Sunday night, they don’t want to face some problems and challenges of the business.

Really need to get tips to beat the Monday blues.  It’s messing up so many people.  But actually the Monday blues are the people’s opportunity to  become successful.  The Monday blues are the people’s success opportunities.  

It is so pervasive that it is a cultural phenomenon.  Probably a global phenomenon in the modern society where work has merely become a way to make money.  The Monday blues include feeling of exhaustion, resignation, disappointment,  unpleasantness, disgusted sense of the same  thing over again and again, frustration of not doing what you want to do…every depression but not clinical depression.  Either boredom or lots of tough difficult stressful situation waiting at your office.

At one time, you were happy to go to school.  Then as you got older, some students didn’t want to go to school.  You were bullied.  Teachers were mean.  You didn’t want to sit in the classroom.  You didn’t like what you were taught.  You didn’t do homework,.  You didn’t study for the tests. 

Basically something is wrong with the way the modern society is set up.  That is why so many people experience such dissatisfaction.  If we look at what’s been happening just in America for the last several decades, many people started to rebel against what they consider the System or the Establishment.   We will discuss this aspects in  the 7th Tip.

The basic stand you might want to take is that you are going to change the things you can.  And you will take control of yourself and who you are.

It’s important to approach a big problem holistically.   The area we are going to examine are the following:

Your healthiest reaction to the things you don’t like and where you are stuck for sometime  is to be able to feel, think and intuitively understand and be able to say…
“I don’t like this.  I will make solid and sound plans to get out of this situation.   You will see clearly what it is that you want.
And you will be able to change your life without lots of negative emotions, anger and hatred. 

One of the things that happened to people in the modern society is that they became rather myopic. 

You need a solid foundation in all areas of your life before you will be  able to break free.


1. Healthy Body:

Your body has several major systems.  We will talk about the proper diet or healthy diet in the  next section, Healthy diet.
All the body systems must harmonize and be in balance.  They must be functioning properly.  

2. Healthy Diet:

With the big food industries burgeoning, we are eating more and more mass produced, chemicalized and processed food. 

The current food industry practices have defied in the worst way the imagination of what is natural, human and decent.  You may feel depressed and hate Mondays; slowly you are getting poisoned on the inside as well as on the outside.

3. Healthy Mindset:

People’s mind has become irrational and distorted.  Their mind is programmed and conditioned.  They lack self-confidence and self-esteem.  They are unhappy and intensely preoccupied with their issue and problems.  They’d rather spend so much time talking about these challenges they face.

4. Harmonious Relationships:

Many people have stopped showing common courtesy, mutual respect and kindness.

5. Spiritual Attitudes

What are the five basic spiritual attitudes that we should practice? These attitudes have been taught in all traditional religions for centuries. It is understandable why many people are alienated from their religion or church, but they have forgotten to tap into the positive teaching that religion offers.

6. Profession & Work

The professionals who are highly trained really cannot enjoy in their chosen profession because there is a deep disconnect between what they need and what the profession offers. The professional salary offered hardly compensates for their time, their needs and can keep up with the life style they want.

7. Community & World:

Most people are stuck in their cubicles

or packed on public transportation

or stuck in the traffic jam day and  day  out.

They are pitted against each other.  They compete rather than cooperate. 

Because most of people have so little of themselves, they distrust one another.

The Monday Blues you may experience does not just come out of your own emotions and psychological state. 

First Tip on the Healthy body:

Let’s talk about how to restore or maintain the healthy Body.

When you have the Monday Blues every single week,  physical fitness alone will not help you to solve your problem.  But most people who work out regularly don’t  suffer a sever case of the Monday blues.
You work out and learn to blow off lots of negative emotions.  You do build skills to do that.  

In America:

Physical exercise is essential in the modern age.  In American society an average distance walked per person is far less than other advanced nations.   Average people living in America do not walk, especially those who live in suburbs.  So much of work done is at a computer today.   People are moving their body, using legs less and less.

So they aren’t walking to go to the train station or go shopping or visit their friends.  Just hop into the car and drive… or driven by your spouse or family member.

People who are about their body and really want to stay fit go to a gym probably daily.  Many of enthusiasts seem to live in their sport club. 

There are so many different types that they will make your head spin.

  • Endurance
  • Cardio
  • Kettlebell
  • Crossfit
  • Circuit
  • Body Weight
  • Time  Crunch

Many clubs offer several types of Yoga, too.  The speedy, faster schools of Yoga is very popular.  More challenges asana (poses) are respected like head stand, shoulder stand, etc.

It’s really interesting about the Western approach to physical fitness.  All these exercise are designed to make you sweat and tone your muscles and build your muscles.  Cardiovascular is about the only type that pays attention to the body system of circulation.  To simulate the entire cardiovascular system.
People who work out regularly really look great.  Speed, pumping and vigor!

Eastern Approach: 

There are life force substances that flow  throughout the entire body..
The body water exists within the cells and the outside of the cells and mix with live substances that excrete or secret in the cells.
Blood and lymphatic fluids are extracellular.  Then unfamiliar concept in the Western science is prana or Ki or Chi energy of the Universe flowing through the body.  The energy center is called chakra.  Energy channel is called Kundalini.  Meridian lines. 

In the Yogic tradition, the body is seen as the manifestation of the Universal energy. 

Naturally the way physical exercise is influenced by this concept of energy flow and meridian lines in the body.  When you do Qigon or Yoga, the effect these have on your body are very different. 

Another big difference between Western and Easter approaches is in the use of breathing, pranayama.  

Mindful breathing, body movement and focus on a particular body part to deepen the experience of your practice.  

The ideal is to incorporate both the Eastern and Western approach.

Laughing exercise (Hatsya Yoga)  to transform your mood: 

Deliberately make yourself laugh.  This is actually one of Yoga practice.

Heartfelt laughter to blow off the Monday blue.  When you get that anxiety or panic attach.

1] You don’t need people around you who make you laugh.
2] You don’t have to begin with a positive mindset to enjoy jokes or humor.
3] You don’t have to take extensive workshops, away from your area and spending hours devoted to just laughing away. 

 

Recently many marketing geniuses have set up exclusive laughing exercise workshops.  We have laughter therapist and laughter experts.

You may meet some wonderful people and that is a really good thing.  But it is not necessary to spend the money or the time you don’t have. 

Today you will learn to train your mind to laugh when there seems no reason to be happy and to laugh.  Your mind will follow the queue from the Body’s wisdom.  Spontaneously laughing all different ways is so healthy. You can use the ‘H’ sounds effectively…

The idea of laughing exercises is to let the body actions simulate natural spontaneous laughing and allow the body functions to take over to produce great benefits of laughing for real.

Most people believe our mind is superior and it controls us and the body just follows.  But the Body has so much wisdom.

When you laugh hahaha, hihihi, hoohooho, hehehe, hohoho…

What Is Hara Power?

Do you notice your lower abdomen is vibrating and energized as well as your entire body?

The lower abdomen is called Hara or Tanden in Japanese.  Hara is considered to be the Center of all energy centers. 

Ki, chi energy Prana, the Universal energy that flows through our enter Being.
Hara is where your true soul resides, It is the seat of God and your higher power.

Many years ago, when I was training and studying Zen and Buddhist Yoga called Oki Yoga  Ashram at the foot of Mt. Fuji, there were hundreds of trainees and patients who were suffering from terminal illnesses as well as severe mental illnesses. 

We would throw in about 10 minutes of laughing exercises, students lying on the floor on their backs and stomachs, throwing their arms and legs up, laughing their guts out and head off.  The entire energy field of the Dojo was transformed.  You see in English we say, laughing your head off… you get away from your “stinking thinking!”

Laughing exercise is one way to train your mind to stay in the present moment.  If letting go or forgiving is difficult, begin this ancient laughing exercise, it’s called Hatsya Yoga.

 You owe it yourself to feel good as much as possible.   Use your mind to  strategize a solution to your problems.  Blow away worrying, being stressed out with your laughter. 

Daily Walking:

Those who are not active going to a gym or some type of exercise classes, can still gain great benefits from their regular walks.  
Walking is highly recommended by medical doctors, too. 

My acupuncturist recommends that too.  I have been walking daily for many years.  For me it is not just a physical exercise, but also I consider walking as my mental and spiritual journey.  I walk for maintaining health.  Morning walk is particularly beneficial.  Find out about Daily Walking Meditation: Zen Yoga Style.

 

I emphasized the vital aspects of walking and introduced walking meditation.   It makes up a foundation of a person’s healthy lifestyle.
Three years ago I sustained a lower back injury in an accident.   I did not have to go through a lumbar spine surgery or depend on pain killer medicine.  I believe this has lot to do with my daily walking.

I also receive acupuncture treatments:

My acupuncturist is from Korea and   his family practiced healing arts for generations.  His knowledge, intuitive approach and healing techniques are excellent. He teaches at a university and also is a respected researcher in the field of acupuncture.   

At his office I enjoyed 3 different modalities of healing (1) acupuncture, (2)electro-acupuncture and (3) suction cupping. 

After I had an acupuncture session, my acupuncturist told me, “Yukiko, walking!  Walking will help you heal.  Not a hard workout going to a gym.”  “Walk several times a day.”   I couldn’t agree more.

It’s really quite awesome when a prominent healing practitioner of ancient Asian healing arts tells you walking is so important.  The Western medical experts are all in agreement with this idea.

There are many ways you can begin to take care of your physical health.  the Eastern way.  The Western way.  Exercise to strengthen your body.  Walking to relax your body and mind.
And even receive treatments such as acupuncture.

Many of my friends and I do not have the Monday blues.  We escaped that.  I did long ago.
We’ll get to Tips from #2 – #7.  But I will definitely share with you now the big secret.
