[1] Understand the need to Define A Target Market:

A target market is a group of customers you choose to your marketing effort. You are selling or offering your service to this specific group.  There is a misunderstanding that you have to keep a wide customer basis.   A well-defined, narrowly focused group is the way to conduct  successful target marketing.

Are you targeting a mega-niche area like dating, dog training or weight loss and there is no way you can attract customers to your website or blog site?  

[2] Know your passion, desire and knowledge base:

Generally people know best something they really are passionate about.    Choose something you love to do and it must be something that is worthwhile for your time and effort.  It must be something that you love to share with others and you can add value to their lives.  What you target must be aligned with your passion. 

[3] Pick your niche:  

When choosing your niche in Internet Marketing, you must take 3 factors to ensure that  your products or service are profitable.

{A} Is there a wide range of products offered in your niche.  If all you can sell are books, perhaps you don’t have enough range of products?

{B}  Are there customers buying online?  People may shop around online for lawn mowers or TV sets but actually go to stores.  It’s important for you to research on customers buying habits.

{C} Can you successfully compete?  Are these very high priced items that only have a very limited customer base?  Are the prices too low that your commissions will not cover your cost and time?

[4] Marketing Research can be conducted:

What is selling Amazon?  You can get a very good idea.
You can also browse in ClickBank.com to see what are popular Niche and products online.
You can Google some of the ideas and items you have.

[5] Narrow focus on your target market:

Consider demographic, age, and gender.
What and who would you like to work with

  • age group or generation
  • gender
  • ethnic group
  • marital status
  • occupation or industry
  • family status (children or no children)
  • income level and/or education
  • buying habits
  • geographic location
  • hobbies and interests
  • residence: home owner. renter

[6] Identify specific problems this specific group has:

Identify 3 problems.

[7] Provide a solution to each of the problems you listed:
