New Meaning of Serenity:
the Way of Personal and Business Life

Serenity is the power and ability to find peacefulness and calmness within life and within your mind and heart.
~~Yukiko Karuna~~

Serenity is More Than a Quality or State of Feeling:

Definition of Serenity in Vocavulary.com is “Serenity is from Latin serenus “calm, peaceful” plus the suffix -itas. The first part of the word is the English adjective serene, which means calm and peaceful. The Latin suffix corresponds to our English suffix -ity and has the meaning ‘quality or state’.”

A garden must combine the poetic and the mysterious with a feeling of serenity and joy.

Serenity-Garden-freefotoAfter the family and friends get-together, feats and parties at the end of the year,
there is a space of quietness and contemplation in the heart and mind of those who aspire to grow and do great things in their lives.  Both fun and glittery and contentment and solemn, genuinely sincere moments. Celebration with family and friends.  Celebration for their abundant fulfillment and contribution to the world.

I have found a set of phrases that describes what serenity looks like in the following page.

Excerpts from “Hope for Today”:
  (
AL-ANON FAMILY GROUPS page 360  December 25)

Serenity is …
… a way of life absorbed slowly and practiced one day at a time … perspective … becoming aware of and accepting my many characteristics and not judging what’s “bad” or “good” but what’s useful to keep and what to release … a spiritual journey without a destination … the space between the impulse and the action … accepting what is … honoring my feelings without aiming them at someone else or letting them run my life … a gift I choose to give myself … knowing that what works for someone else may not necessarily work for me … knowing that what works for me may change from moment to moment … Understanding I may be powerless, but I’m not helpless …

… realizing my Higher Power does for me what I cannot do for myself … minding my own business … the comfort of knowing I can hold my own hand … understanding that reacting to life and responding to life are not the same thing … deliberate realignment with my Higher Power … feeling at peace with my past … a matter of internal stability … becoming a complete being with my body and mind in one place at the same time … becoming one with my Higher Power.

These are many phrases are quite profound.   They challenge our daily feeling, thinking and doing.  I will be discussing on this page in subsequent blog posts.

Serenity Exercise 1:
Daily mediation and prayer is a way to strengthen your ability and power to create serenity in your personal and business life.    If you don’t practice currently, get started for 5 minutes or 10 minutes of quiet sitting, walking and find a few prayers of your choice for now and contemplate on the meditation.
For now, there is no need to find classes or books before you get started.
Designated a place to sit quietly.  Set up a schedule so you can be consistent.
Have a journal book.  Write down what you experience.
(This is practicing the first phrase… a way of life absorbed slowly and practiced one day at a time.)

Serenity Exercise 2:

Choose one phrase from the above page.  Apply this whenever you can in any situation.
Choose the one you feel you really need to work on.
“Feeling at peace with my past.”  This is a real challenging one.
“Minding my own business.”  Apply this slogan to your dealing with your spouse or children.

Serenity happens in the trenches of your emotional life.  Serenity is what people must maintain and/or regain consciously all year around.

If you want to find how one of my mentors achieved his abundant life, full of peace and love, then check this simple 3 step formula.  I am of the opinion that one’s business life must be improved for people to enjoy serenity.
