Complain to Get Results
[Big Solution]
Purpose of Complaining:
Rather than to talk about “complaining” I would like to talk about the Art of Complaining. Also I would like to explore why of the complaint and where it can lead us.
So many people complain to whine; regurgitate to blame; to be more resentful; and remain in that space of negativity.
How to complain Effectively:
- Emotions don’t get into this.
- You must remain calm.
- State your facts.
- You explain the negative effects these issues had on you.
- If you are complaining to an organization, or its representatives, never get personal.
- Don’t get angry, attack these people or insult the preventatives.
- They are merely doing their job, following the company policy.
- They are doing what they were told to do and to treat you in a certain way.
- You just stay calm; ask questions and take your time. These representatives are paid for their time.
- They have to have a result.
- These representatives already have remedies but they don’t want to tell you immediately. {They would have to give you some type of compensations and they don’t want to come out and say that right away.}
- You stay calm, repeat your complaints in different ways and take your time.
Recently I delt with a telephone company. I followed the exact procedures described here.
First I spoke with a representative and was transferred to the “team leader.” Remained calm not negatively emotional.
Never insulted the person. Remained friendly.
Stated facts.
Listened to his arguments and defense.
Restated my facts and all the inconveniences and overpaying on my part.
Switched to the leader.
Repeated the same procedure.
I did step up to say that the company was not treating me right.
The company policy or practice is not very honest.
This kind of thing could easily lead to a massive class action law suit.
Then this leader started to get uncomfortable about the time he was spending with me.
The representative came to a resolution.
Then there it was an offer of honoring me with some past credits and a nominal discount for the future billing for the next 12 months [hidden promotion that the company doesn’t openly tell its existing customers].
I had decided to spend about 30 minutes. Was I completely happy with the compensation I received for my issues. No! But I know it was time to compromise and move on. There was a compromise. And it was OK.
What about in a personal situation?
{You see my example before is not a personal situation.}
You are rightfully complaining in the following circumstances:
1] Someone broke his promise made to you. [You are stood up]
2] Someone took your money and didn’t give you an adequate service or a proper merchandise.
3] You have been mistreated you. Someone was rude to you. [violated
your right]
4] Someone misrepresented and mislead you. [Dishonest to you]
5] Someone cheated on you. [being unfaithful and ignored the sacred
contract with you] Usually someone very close to you.
Evaluate:
- For each situation, you will have to analyze, think or evaluate with your gut- feelings.
- With each person involved,
- You would have to figure out.
- Who you can resolve the conflicts with
- And those you cannot.
- Can you forgive?
- Can you let go?
Figure out if this conflict was really your business or someone else’s business.
Complaining is not whining:
By complaining
- you would like to get your voice heard
- Air out your feelings
- You are seeking to get compensated.
- You want to make things right.
For all these reasons, you do have the right to complain.
What you need to do is to rethink and reframe your thinking.
Complaining is the art of solving problems for you to be properly compensated in personal and business matters.
If you do not get the result you want, you just have to let go and move on.
You may not complain out loud to yourself or to others. List your complaints. Explore what is hidden behind each of your complaints. Discover your disre and even a big vision.
Today the world around us is rapidly changing. You cannot afford to keep compaining about the same thing, the same person or situation. That then is nothing more than whining and blaiming others for your problem.
