3 Simple Ways to Tap into Your Intuition

3 Simple Ways to Tap into Your Intuition

Let me ask you some questions:
Do you know that you are intuitive?
Do you follow your intuitions?
How many times did you ignore your intuition
and didn’t go for something
and later on you were really sorry?

Please don’t tell me you are not intuitive…
because you are not spiritual
or because you don’t sit down
for hours to meditate
or because you don’t pray enough.

We are all humans.
All humans are spiritual beings.
All spiritual beings are gifted with intuition.
Don’t listen to that spiritual snobbism.

Whether you are an atheist, agnostic…
Or whether you believe in god or in a specific form of religion,

For many centuries throughout the history of
mankind, every culture valued the power of intuition.

What is intuition?
Wayn  Dyer, one of the most beloved  spiritual author and speaker says;

“A  prayer is you speaking to God.  Meditation is God speaking to you.”

In meditation, as you become a seasoned meditation practioner, you receive many voices and many ideas that are not coming from your conscious mind.   That is intuition.  But without much spiritual practice, we still get that deep knowing and feeling.

The trick is being able to tell if what you are experiencing is deeply ingrained prejudice, fears or excuses or is it really intuition speaking to you. Many people don not have enough training to distinguish the differences between their conditioned or rationalized thinking from intuition.

 Let’s explore more about intuition:

“The only real valuable thing is intuition.”
                                Albert Einstein

Even though he was considered to have the brightest scientific mind of the 20th century, he valued intuition.  All his hypotheses came from his intuition, tapping into the Universal Intelligence, psychic energy that comes through to you.

“Faith is a passionate intuition.”
                               William Wordsworth

Intuition is all about deep knowing and deep feeling.

An American New Thought spiritual teacher, Florence Scovel Shinn
said:

“Intuition is a spiritual faculty and does not explain, but simply points the way.”

Intuition is not scientific logic.  The exact mechanism of intuition is not known.  It is associated with the left side of the brain, the creative side.

Scientists have not found how you should know and feel so deeply without any evidence or formula.  Intuition is not based on any scientific evidence.

Most people really want to cultivate the power to have intuition in their lives.
Because that is what guides us in making great decisions.

Even though they can rely on their brain, the logical mind to decide what is right or wrong and figure out what to do.  Ultimately it is our intuition that has us move to decide and take action.  That deep knowing that allows us to persist and continue to go on our path.  We really want to aligne to this power of intuition.

3 types of mediation for beginners:
There are three types of meditation  for beginners when practiced for 5 to 10 minutes daily, you can learn to tap into this Universal energy of intuition.   They rely on our senses, seeing, hearing and breathing.

[A] Visual or Sight Meditation:

Focus on a naturally occurring objects such as trees, clouds, moon, a star, tree or a flower.
(1) Gaze gently on this one object of your choice without staring at it.
(2) Exhale to release your tension and release what is bottled up in your mind.
(3) Inhale to experience the essence of the object in the likeness of shape, color, size or texture of the object.
(4) Let yourself become the object-ness or its essence such as the flower-
     ness or the cloud-ness.

(Highly individualized instructions are available after an interview and consultation with Yukiko.)

{Visualization Meditation is more advanced and requires some years of
     studies of a particular school of thought or religion or spirituality.}

[B]  Sound Meditation

(1)  In a quiet place, listen to New Age type instrumental music.  Reiki Music,      Crystal balls, Shakuhachi  are great choices of music.  Chanting is another great choice.  Lyrics that stir up emotions of romantic love or take us on  painful emotional memory lane  are not recommended.
(2)  Breathe in to let music enter your body and begin to imagine that a melody you are listening to turns into a motion of light.
(3) Let the body respond gently to the music, like a tree or a plant in a gentle breeze in a wild open field.
(4) Be mindful of your breath.  Your eyes can be open or closed.

[C] Breath MeditationFocus on your breath. Be mindful of
“I am breathing in”  “I am  breathing out”
(1)  Say to yourself “I am breathing in.”  “I am breathing out.”
(2)  Repeat “I am breathing in.”  “I am breathing out.”
(3)  When you have repeated ‘in and out’ breaths comfrtablly…
(4)  Inhaling in 4 counts.  Exhaling in 8counts.
Exhalation is twice as long. (as in the video)
(5) Count up to 10, 50 or 100 as you breathe in and out.
(6) Breathe in the entire energy fieldd around you
and breathe out to release your tension and any negativity.
(7) When your thoughts get away from breathing or counting,
start accounting from one.

What to watch out for:

  • While you are meditating, you mind drifts.
  • You may start to think of unhappy incidents.
  • Your thoughts may be disturbed.
  • You may start to worry about things in life.
  • Your mind races and become anxious.
  • Return to breathing with awareness.

No dogma and it’s all about your discovery:

  • You will activate different senses.
  • You will discover about your learning style.
  • You may feel more comfortable with the sight, sound or breath meditation.
  • Visualization meditation may be advanced for you as a beginner.
  • You are free to experiment with different basic styles.
  • There are countless types of meditations.
  • Based on your nature and learning styles and what you are going through in life at this time,  you will find one method more suitable to your need.

Meditation Postures:

  1. You may be lying down on your back.
  2. Sitting on a chair.
  3. Sitting on a cushion or more than two, cross legged. (Lotus or half lotus.)
  4. Using a cushion under your sits-bones so that  your pelvis is slightly tilted forward.
  5. Or even in a rock, kneeling down posture (Seiza)
  • Feel your sits bones down.
  • The spine straight but the lower back not hyper arched.
  • The chin down and the back of the neck long.
  • The shoulders are down and relaxed.
  • Without thinking too hard, though.
  • Meditation is not a relaxation exercise.

{I will demonstrate 5 meditation  postures in another video.} There are many guided meditations available on CDs.  You may want to try out one or two.

Just 5 minutes daily to develop your faculty
to tap into Intuition:

Maybe as many as 20 million or 30 million people are meditating in America.
By meditating, you will cultivate your ability to tap into the Universal Intelligence impulses. The messages or clear voices.  When you are planning; you are hesitating; you are not quite sure what to do: that decisive moment of intuition will come to you. Many prominent business leaders I have known and I have seen them go to Zen temples in Japan  and meditate and pray have consultations with the head priest.  They tap into their deep selves and their deeper knowing states. To make business decisions.

To create a new vision. The logics is always there going back and forth between ‘yes’ and ‘no.’ But the deepest desire and decision of what is right for you or what action is right for you now will come to you.You would like to tap into that deepest intuitive messages. They are all around you.  The Intelligent Energy of the Universe.  You just need to create and improve the faculty to tap in.

Some more words of wisdom:

“Many scientists think that philosophy has no place, so for me it’s a sad time because the role of reflection, contemplation, meditation, self inquiry, insight, intuition, imagination, creativity, free will, is in a way not given any importance, which is the domain of  of philosophers.”
Deepak Chopra

“Your intuition will tell you where you need to go; it will connect you with people you should meet; it will guide you toward work that is meaningful for you – work that brings you joy, work that feels right for you.”
                                                                                       Shakti Gawain

“It is my deepest belief that spirituality belongs to your life
and can be used as a daily tool one day at a time. Start to walk daily to turn that into mindful walking meditation.”
