Meaningful “Who You Are” Not “What You Are” Quotes

Are you happy? Are you satisfied? Are you feeling secure? Are you feeling inspired? Do you love yourself? Or like many people do you identify with ‘what you do’ and ‘what you think you are.’

  1. It is not the question, what am I going to be when I grow up; you should ask the question, who am I going to be when I grow up.

    Goldie Hawn

  2. Often we lose our identity trying to please or placate others.

    Mary Manin Morrissey

  3. In the social jungle of human existence, there is no feeling of being alive without a sense of identity.

    Erik Erikson

  4. The biggest mistake that you can make is to believe that you are working for somebody else. Job security is gone. The driving force of a career must come from the individual. Remember: Jobs are owned by the company, you own your career!

    Earl Nightingale

Difference between what you are and what you are.
People are identified with what they do.  Labeled and categorized.  What their professions are.
You are a medical doctor.  You are a nurse.  You are a school principal.  You are a teacher.  You are the  Mayor of  the town.  You are a janitor.  You are a garbage collector.

We tend to judge and classify the kind of people you are based on what your do.

Your pride or low self-esteem is based on what you do and not who you are.
Getting in touch with ‘who you are’ will make you feel so much better about yourself.

You become more productive and you will live into your potential.

You will succeed in whatever you do and whatever your dreams are.

Why  ‘What You Do’ Became so Important Falsely?
For many, people didn’t choose their profession out of their deep passion.

Just fell into something to do as a default.  Based on your circumstance.  You felt there was no other choice.

Or like Mary Manin Morrissey says you chose your profession to please your parents.  Or you were brain washed to take so called prestigious profession like being a medical doctor.

Or like many millions, you get into a packed subway or a train, and sit in a cubicle in an office 9 to 5, 5 days a week.  Dying to get out of there.  It is the social jungle of human modern existence as Erik Erikson says.

As Earl Nightingale states people stopped working for themselves.  They have no sense of being individuals.

When the economy collapsed, there was no more job security.  In the name of euphemisms like ‘restructuring of a company,’ ‘strategic efficiency’ and ‘globalization.’

What you are started out first as a brain washed choice and that made a modern robot out of you and your loyalty to a company and job was totally trashed.

People are programmed by their friends, family, society and economic structure they’ve been living in.

Many of my friends and team members went through these struggles and even became bankrupt.
They were completely broken only identifying themselves with “what they were.”

You have to become aware of the Internet Revolution.  You have to go with the flow with knowing who you are.

Now having found this way, if they are asked how they are they will tell you “who they are.”
They have found themselves.  They share “who they are” with tens of thousands of people.
