5 Key Effective Time Management Skills Part 1: Establish Daily Activities

Time Management Activities

This is the first of series on Time management Activities and Skills:

Video Post:

My very first success mentor was Bob Proctor.   He always told me, “You cannot manage time.”  Because time, every second goes.  Whatever you are doing.  Wherever you are.  How old you are.  It just keeps going.  That’s how  everyone ages.   That’s how time flies.

Bob Proctor taught me that what we can do is to manage our activities and our mindset to follow within a certain time frame.

There are two types of time management.  One is called micro management. The second is macro management.

Today I would like to talk about micromanagement. When it comes to bosses or company managers trying to micro manage,  they are talking about small things and every little activities that all the subordinates do.  The managers are looking over the shoulders of their subordinates or employees.  These bosses actually end up interfering with their employees work progress, initiatives and creativities.

The bosses end up being overbearing and overcritical, stumping their worker’s growth and experimentation. This is not the way to go.

However when you apply micro management to your own activities, it’s really important that you have realistic assessment of how long  activities takes.

If things will be skipped completely, and time will go by.   You’ve seen situations haven’t you?  You felt, “Six months have gone by and I didn’t do anything.”   It could be five years going by.  This beautiful musical instrument like a piano or a guitar just sitting in your house, and you’ve never done anything with it.  Or the book that you bought.   That sat on your bookshelf forever.  That has happened?

It’s important to micromanage your activities on a daily basis.   Set 5 to 10 minutes every day and decide the things you are going to do.   Every single day.  I would like to see that list.  There are 5 to 6 things on that list every day.

If you are the kind of a person who skips breakfast, then you will have to allocate 10 to 20 minutes for that time when you will have nutritious breakfast.

Or when you have any interactions with your children, spouse, your boy friend or girlfriend, because you are so busy, you must create some time when you can sit down with them to spend some quality time together.

You plan specific activity in a specific time frame.  That is micro time management of your activities.
I’d like to see you come up with your list…   daily what you will do.  That will take care of your needs.
If you like, you can share your list on Facebook or on my blog site.  Write a comment. Respond to me.  do you agree or disagree with this idea.

Micro Managed Time Activities:

These are my activities.  You must start to create your list of activities and build up a solid foundation one week and one month at a time.
When you make a habit of doing these activities, it becomes easier to do and manage your time effectively.  It becomes easier to master the basic things.
