7 Tips To Improve Your Email Open Rate

How to Have Effective Email Marketing: Improve Open Rate

E-mail Marketing:

In Internet Marketing you generate traffic to you website, blog site, banners and have your prospect come to your lead capture page.   This is how you generate leads. Once prospects opt-in, they’re subscribed to your email list.  You’ve set up campaigns in autoresponder which collects email addresses.  Then it sends emails based on the way you set up.

Aiming for a higher Open Rate:

In Internet marketing, what is the primary aim that you have to strive for?  It is a higher open rate.  You want your subscribers to open and read your Emails.

Your Email shouldn’t end up in your subscribers’ Spam folders.

There are human factors as well the reasons that Emails don’t get opened.
Sometimes people are always looking for something new; and looking for opportunities,

opt-in.  Get a capture page; put their Email address; and click to get free giveaways or watch a video and they forget.   They get mad at the person who is sending Email newsletters.

As a marketer you want to make sure that your subscribers are opening up your Emails.

Personal Email Marketing done for your business:

This  is very different from Email Marketing done by professional Marketers.

If you are sending out Emails to a list of your friends, associates, clients or prospects as a group mail to a list of 10, 50, 100, 200 to using your free Gmail or other free Email account or handling everything manually, this is not the kind of Email Marketing I am talking about.

When you are doing Email Marketing, eventually you will be ending up with tens of thousands even hundreds of thousands of Email addresses.    So you would use autoresponsder.  It is a computer program that gathers and stores your data and allows both manual and automatic sending of Emails as well as collecting Emails from capture pages by setting up different campaigns.

Most Internet Marketers start with GetResponse or AWeber.   They are hosting servers and there are monthly fees set based on the numbers of Email addresses you hold.    I’ve used both.  I do recommend GetResponse which easily integrates with my blog (websites) and other software services I use.

  {One month Free Trial, Go ahead and familiarize yourself with GetResponse}

When you get more experienced and your list grows larger and when you can afford to pay much higher service fees then you can upgrade to premium servers.

To avoid Emails going to Spam folders: (7 Tips)

1] Get your own domain from Godaddy or other hosting services.   Do not use free Email addresses such as Gmail, Yahoo, hotmail.com Msn.com  Comcast.com

Fro example one of my domain is www.YukikoGlobal.com
So I can assign one Email such as Join@yukikoglobal.com

Requesting your subscribers to white list your email address means to add it to their contact list or to their primary folder.

2] Personalize and introduce yourself by using a welcome video as soon as a prospect does opt-in and your autoresponder is set to go out.  This is an automated Email to go out upon a prospect opting in.
In this video, you ask your new subscriber to white-list your Email.
All your Emails should go to their In Box or primary folder.

3] The heading or the title of your Email

  • Avoid a long headline.  A study showed that heading should be no more than less than 50 charaters.
  • Avoid reference to money making, home business, $$$ signs, talking about “making money”
  • Avoid excessively talking about home based business opportunities.
  • Avoid putting more than two periods … and more than a few punctuations or parentheses. Success and Freedom pertaining financial freedom.

4] Avoid Spammy  content… where making money or  pushing your products…selling products are outlandishly promoted.

5] Avoid adult language, sexually explicit comments or content.

6] Avoid large size images or many images out of proportion to the text size.
Some experts insist Not to put more than 2 hyperlinks or (url’s) in each of your email…
including the links to your social media sites or website.

Of course human factors come in as to whether your prospect wants to read your Email or not or relate to your photo that shows who you are.

7] Study some copy writing… to make it catching to the eyes;  come up with interesting headlines that arouse curiosity.

A headline presented as a question  is very appealing.

How often should you send your emails…
Some experts say: “Not EVERY Day!”   Others say: “Daily”  perhaps not on Sundays.

Follow your mentor’s Email style and content.  Be sure not copy word for word.

Bonus:

(1) As an affiliate of a large organization, your vendor may supply you with a set of autoresponder or Email letters (swipe).  Be sure to personalize and edit in your own style.  If tens of thousands of the exact same Email go out, they will often end up in the Junk file.  Or when you are taking a course taught by well known influential marketers, you must personalize any swipe copies, headlines and contents.

(2) Be sure to send out your Email daily.  As you practice, your Email will get better and more appealing to your subscribers.  However, experts have different opinions on this matter.  Follow your personal mentors on this point.

(3)  It is considered in the industry 10-20% open rate is excellent.  You should not go below 5 %.

You can also scrap or clean your email lists or segment your lists based on those who open or don’t open.
